El Conejo Authentic Mexican- Irvine, CA

While I disagree with the "authentic" in the restaurant name, the food here was cheap and pretty decent for a quick (and close by) mexican fix that I was craving for.

Interior of the place:

I ordered the Weekly Special of the Super Chicken Burrito with Enchila Sauce that comes with rice and beans.

This was quite a hefty portion for $4.49. The burrito inside had chicken, lettuce, sour cream, and rice. The beans were okay, as I'm not too much of a bean fan to begin with and the rice wasn't too bad either. I was pleased with the enchilada sauce, otherwise my burrito might have been too dry.

My friend got the Macho Nachos to share and this was quite a large portion too. Enough to feed 4 people at least. It was good in that it came with shredded pork and decent amount of cheese, sour cream, and guac.

She also got the Carne Asada Tacos with rice and beans.

I didn't try any of her dish as I had plenty of food but she seemed to enjoy it.

Overall, not a bad place to go if you're hankering for Mexican that's cheap but don't want to go the Taco Bell/Del Taco route. In my opinion, you don't see too many of these hole-in-the-wall type places in Irvine although I would just die and go to heaven if an Alerto's decided to open up a store here.
