Ngu Binh- Westminster, CA

I'm in love! As an avid fan of noodles, this place has captured my heart for the past 3 weeks. I've gone each weekend, and I have not been disappointed. Located in Westminster, there are a gajillion vietnamese restaurants to choose from but this small, cozy, and oftentimes crowded restaurant beats the rest in one category: Bun Bo Hue. A popular vietnamese soup noodle dish with noodles that are thin, but not pho thin, and is denser to chew.

^ A one-page menu that's protected underneath glass on the table. There's no English but the top 2 are the restaurant's specialty. 01 is a Large sized bowl and 02 is a Regular sized bowl. I've had both sizes and the Large bowl seems to be the best bang for the buck.

As I'm a wuss for spicy things, I always order this noodle dish "no-spicy." Even though it's no-spice, sometimes it can still pack a heat but it's oh-so-good. The bowl comes with a pig's knuckle, which I don't eat, as well as congealed pig's blood, which I adore, brisket meat, and a large chunk of a type of cha lua- which is a vietnamese pork sausage. A plate of herbs, beans sprouts, and thinly sliced banana blossoms is also included with this order. The banana blossoms don't particularly have a taste, but are used more for their crunchy texture alongside the soup and noodles.

The downside of this restaurant is that it's quite small so there's always a group of customers waiting around outside. I found that at around 5 pm on a Sunday yielded minimum wait so maybe you'll get lucky too. Make sure to write your name on the yellow notepad clipped to the clipboard on the door!
