Ideas?

Soooooooooo,
my Unit III ideas for the argumentative is!!!!!
How male sports dominates woman sports. In sense this is explaining how even in sports, fan still favor male side regardless. Despite the fact that some woman sports such as basketball back in 2016, they were really good yet there was no fans or support for the team, while fans are raving over the male teams even though they were not that great as the women.
Image result for woman vs male sport stats
This image shows how sports coverage favor the male side and the women don't get as much coverage as the male.
This matters because it shows that male still dominates even in sports, and there is no true equality in between sexes. Also people don't pay attention to the quality of the team, instead they focus on the gender, meaning whatever sports, as long is there is male players... people will watch and support regardless and neglect the women team. This is still happening in 2017 even though women fight for their rights and we the society say that male and females are equal yet in certain areas we are not, for example sports.
Stakeholders? 1.) women:  females don't have the same respect as male sports even though they were equivalent or better in terms of skills. 2.) businesses specialize for sports: they want to make money, so women don't attract a lot of attention so they don't favor the women's team. 3.) female sports team: There is less opportunity for women to play sports that male sports can play, so there is this gab between male and female sports.

UNIT III

Going forward to UNIT III

In this unit, my purpose is to produce an argumentative issue... and my goal is to persuade the audience to the topic I chose. I will be composing a popular controversy topic that tie into the current or timely events. This has to relate/connect to me and what stake I have in the issue. In order to do so, I must know my aim and project to persuade the audience, and I must know who is my stakeholders and audience is. To convince my audience I must use appropriate strategies and appeals of my topic, for example statistics, facts, supporting text to support my claims. To prove my point across, and provide a counterargument to justify (in sense) to make my argument stronger and enhance its effectiveness to my claim.

So?

Well? As for this topic,  I came up with the technology and students topic for my Unit II essay. I just thought that it would be a great topic to talk about because, Me.. Myself.. And I. is guilty of being sleep deprived because I use my electronics a little too much. :iconnosepickingplz:I feel like my impulse to touch the phone is so strong that even thought my mind tells me "Dude, why are you checking your phone. No one is texting you at this time of day." and yet my body is moving subconsciously to check it constantly.:iconsighingplz:

To prove that we teenagers love our phone so much, I decided to do a survey.  I asked around 95 students do fill out my survey. Not surprised enough, majority admit that they do use their phone more than 3 hours and use their phone before they sleep as they sleep very little. What surprised me the most, is that majority of the students said they don't feel sleepy during class. As I was thinking that they would say yes. But it took a moment for me to realized that because it has become such a norm and habit of sleeping late, they have gotten used to sleep inertia. :iconredpassplz:
Tying into the Secondary source, it did state that "we honestly don't realized we are sleep deprived." Thus our valued in sleep has been so little that we don't even know if we actually had a good sleep or not.:iconfinallyplz: We are constantly sleeping in such a minimal hours that, we have gotten this "norm" of sleeping so little and feeling not at our full potential, though we convince ourself that we do. I'm not saying that technology has changed us as a whole, and thats why we become such night owls, but it does play a huge factor into our life.  Yes, I get it. Technology is improving literally per second in our life and we just don't know it. We're so amazed on how much short cuts technology does towards our daily activities. :iconsobeautifulplz: Think about this. Majority of the population (or at least I think so) has a smartphone, a phone where theres no buttons that contains #1 and ABC and you have to push 3 times to get to the letter C as you're texting. :icononionomfgplz:

Like what? 8 years ago? Flip phones was such a thing, no no no, the slide up phones was the gig. It was literally a laptop in phone version. Now we have a tap screen where we can type on a glass surface. On this travel friendly device, we can literally do anything, (if  own iPhone) you can ask Siri... ask google... use calculator... calendar, check weather, text, FaceTime, social media, read manga online, watch BTS all day.  And ta-da goodbye sleep. :iconlazyonion:We've gotten so intrigued with the technology, that we spend time using it and playing around instead of sleeping. To the point that it has become a norm and a terrible habit, where we don't really see why we need sleep anymore when we could spend our time doing other cool stuff on our phone.:icongameaddictplz:

What's up Secondary Source!

:icononioncleanplz:Hello again!:icononioncleanplz:

As for Unit II, I needed a secondary source to reference from (in order for me to get to that 6 page). :iconnosepickingplz:Soooooooo, the secondary source I chose is "The Walking Dead" by Maria Konnoikova. This source convey the audience of how little we sleep.:iconwarmandcomfyplz: The author is conveying the importance in how much sleep we should value with scientific evidence. She isn't arguing about how much sleep we should get, but be more aware of our sleep since it could potentially harm us in the long run, physical and mentally.:icononiontantrumplz: The author cites several sources such as Harvard Medical School Media Fellowship and Center for Pediatric Sleep Disorder at Boston Child's Hospital of how everyone suffer sleep inertia at least once in their life time and how it produce risky results. This is source influence my understanding of realizing how important sleep is and factual evidence of how lack of sleep affects us. :icononibeg:
How I found this source?
To be extremely honestly, I wasn't going to use this source... instead I was going to use a source from Syracuse University's library (BUT IT WAS REALLY REALLY LONG). I was having this extremely long conversation with my close friend who goes to University of Cali. San Diego... and we had a whole argument about sleep and how/why screen time affects our sleep. :iconsighingplz:He then suggested me to read these 3 articles that he was majoring in about sleep and what so ever he was majoring in. I read them and thought that it would work for my unit II and took those articles.:iconstudytimeplz: This source is creditable because it was from USCD library and the author has degrees in psychology and creative writing (P.S she goes to Harvard!!!) :iconthatsrightplz:

More UNIT 11!?

Sooooo the topic I ended up with is "screen time and sleep conditions." Personally, choosing this topic was a really good idea. It is something that everyone has been conscious of yet neglect it regardless. And I am one of them. :iconhappyhappyplz:
I love my phone, my laptop, my console and etc. :icongameaddictplz:I use them on a daily basis because it's like a necessity. I use my phone to communicate with friends, read manga, and laugh at memes on social medias. I use my laptop to watch anime and do my homework that requires me to furiously type my life away. :iconfinallyplz:Every electronics has its own use, and it just seems to be hard to not use it... it's just............ so tempting.:iconsighingplz: That's how I feel that every other student has the similar issue. It's normal for us to use technology everyday, it brings us together.... in many forms of way through just our phone.  Think about it, isn't there always this one friend that is always on one's phone when we hang out? (Pssst.... I'm sometimes guilty of that but I try to not be on my phone as much as possible because I personally think it's really really rude). :icononionwoeplz:

Honestly, our usage on technology has taken so much our time and even drags on through the night, to the point where you tell yourself that you're going to sleep early but then you're so occupied on the phone. Then by the time you look at the clock it definitely passed the time you thought you were going to sleep and act like it's ok since theres "this much amount of time left" so you tell yourself "ummmm... I'll go to sleep at this time" and then the cycle repeats. :iconrejectedplz:After that the next morning, 1.) you're tired 2.) you regretted the fact you slept like 3 in the morning 3.) now you're sleep deprived 4.) Definitely going to knock out hard in class and this whole thing repeats and it just gets worse and worse as the day past by. :iconawkwardplz:
I read this article or some sort, and it said "this study revealed 27% of students were at risk for at least one diagnosable sleep condition" (somewhere in Syracuse Uni library). 27%... 27%!!!! Thats like more than 1/4!!! :iconpetrifiedplz: That's just so bad... which is why I decided to do this topic for my unit II topic.:iconstudytimeplz:

Unit II?

As for our unit 2 assignment, we are doing a re-imagining on the norms we experience.  By doing so, we analyze how our current beliefs of what is normal and why so see other abnormal. :iconteatimeplz:We are choosing a "hotspot" in our American culture of what is consider normal and how is it constructed. Picking a "hotspot" can be about something that you have a stake in.:iconlazyonion: It could be about the Media, NFL, Trump, Police, Drugs, Dress code, school (safety), -cough- bedbugs, Athletes (concussion). :iconredpassplz: Using a Primary and Secondary source to prove the topic chosen, but it can't be something that can be bias... it has to be neutral.:iconrelievedplz: For the topic I've chosen.... recently is sleep cycle. How the usage of technology has affect the user's sleep cycle. :icongameaddictplz:My main focus is about students and how we students don't sleep on a recommended amount of sleep because we tend to use our handy dandy electronics which prolong our time to go sleep.

The norms has become where our phone is near us around arm length and our phone is the first thing we see and the last thing we say goodbye. :iconhappyhappyplz:

It has become so common that we are so guilty of this and even admit that we use our electronics more than 2 hours per day... whether is social media... or homework... or watching drama.

P.S. Im guilty of this

What is my definition of Normal?

When it comes to Normalcy, the first thing I could think of is what society view as is acceptable, what is more typical, what is expected. The idea of Normal is different for everyone. It is typical for majority of the people in the society to reject the unusualness of what they deemed is familiar.:iconshock2plz: People in the society are so wrapped into the idea of what they are comfortable with an ignorant mindset. Majority of the time, they aren't as understanding and accepting to things they don’t seem "normal" and generally shun them for their differences. What is normal is what they see on a daily basis and grew accustomed to it over time.:iconiseeplz:

For a girl living under an Asian house hold, it is normal or me to be on top of things. For example, it's typical for American parents to be worried about drugs and social life and etc, but for asian parents, they're worried about grades and more grades... and grades.:icononionwoeplz:I was brought up to use my time wisely for the sake of my future instead of enjoying the time I have at the moment.:iconstudytimeplz: Every teenager has to study at some point, but the goal is different. For me, I study for the sake of having good grades, to make my parent feel proud, to get me far in life.:icongraduatingplz: As for my friends, they study to get good grades or just study for whatever necessary to get through the day
It's 'normal' for us teenagers to greet adults when we walk in. But the way to greet adults are different. For me, it is required to take your shoe off and when you walk in the house and greet properly but for my friends, it is okay to walk in the house with shoes on and greet casually. I find it awkward to walk in the house with shoes on while my friends are completely fine with it.:iconpetrifiedplz: I see my friends going over another friends house very comfortable and casual but for me I find it very uncomfortable because I have the anxiety that I'm intruding into their home and being a bother.  :iconrelievedplz:
Eating is essentially the same, but the way we eat is different too. My family eat with chopsticks and all while my friends family is all about them forks! :iconfinallyplz:
All in all, it is how each individual is brought up and the environment they're grown accustomed to. :icondignitylaughplz:
